Why is “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” labelled as “Parts One and Two”?

0

When I bought Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in book form I noticed that the cover clarifies that you’re holding “Parts One and Two”:

Part of the cover of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.” Below the title is the text “Parts One and Two.”

Today I saw this news story that includes a photo of the London production of the play and I was surprised to see that the signage there says the same thing.

I understand that the play is shown across two nights, but does “Parts One and Two” really resolve any ambiguity? To me, that label implies at first that there are further parts that are not included in the book, which is the opposite of what seems to have been intended.

Why is this text included on the cover of the book, and—if the answer is different—why is it displayed on a sign outside the theater?
