I'm looking for a sci fi audiobook I listened to a while back
An alien being chased by another hostile alien race comes to earth and escapes when his sentient talking spaceship drops him off and leads the aggressors away from his pilot. He realizes the hostile aliens now know about the earth and will return to invade someday. He decides he will have to come to the earth's defense to survive. He needs to raise a large amount of funds to build spaceships and gather human beings to pilot them. initially he is able to raise capital by turning things into gold and selling them but that is a very suspicious method so he decides to try his hand at professional golf to raise the money he needs to build his fleet.
