Green Mold and one other

0

Back in high school in the late 1970s I had a book of short stories we had to read in English class, and one story has stayed with me every since. I have tried to find out about it for weeks without luck. It was a sci-fi story that was called, I think, "Green Mold", about a space ship that landed on Mars that was slowly being consumed by a form of green mold that was growing on the surfaces of everything and, eventually, the astronauts themselves. I don't know when the story dates from but it was at least by the 1970s. Some of the other stories in the book might have been written by Russian authors, but I don't know it that applies to this story or not. Does it sound familiar to anyone? Help! All I get when I search are endless websites about mold!!!

There was also a novel - I remember the author being interviewed on TV in the late 70s or early 80s - about an Apollo spacecraft that splashes down in the Atlantic Ocean (perhaps the Bermuda Triangle?) that is found to be empty - the crew had vanished on the way down! Does this sound at all familiar?
